Timezone (tz) was unused in this case. When porting webRTC to certain platforms it caused runtime asserts when unsupported. Additionally, the timezone parameter is obsolete and should now be NULL according to https://man7.org/linux/man-pages/man2/gettimeofday.2.html. Our mission: To enable rich, high-quality RTC applications to be developed for the browser, mobile platforms, and IoT devices, and allow them all to communicate via a common set of protocols.
The WebRTC initiative is a project supported by Google, Mozilla and Opera, amongst others.
